Journey Level Engine Technician – On Highway – Kent, Washington

Duties and Responsibilities:

The Journey Level Engine Technician is completing day to day maintenance task in a timely manner with little to no supervision.

•     Determine unit condition by conducting inspections, diagnostic tests, and identify deficiencies
•     Diagnosis and repair of electrical, hydraulic, suspension, brake and air systems on various pieces of equipment and trucks
•     Perform basic preventative maintenance services on various pieces of equipment
•     Verify performance by conducting test drives and making necessary adjustments as needed
•     Utilize manufacturer software programs associated with repairing and diagnosing equipment
•     Ability to clearly document repair and work efforts
•     Maintain a safe and organized work environment
•     Accept ownership for accomplishing new requests as well as exploring value added opportunities

Travel Requirement:

•     Daily travel up to 95% of the time with occasional overnight travel up to 2-week periods 

Essential Skills:

•     Previous experience working with clients and problem resolution
•     Must maintain a high level of excellence in quality of work
•     Understand basic operation of transfer switches and switch gear
•     Ability to use vendor diagnostic software to identify and repair deficiencies
•     Ability to work safely at all times
•     Ability to qualify new and used parts for the current job
•     Ability to complete jobs assigned with little to no supervision
•     Excellent customer service skills (Verbal and Written Communication)
•     Continued Professional growth and training by participating in educational opportunities, Training and reading technical manuals and publications
•     Basic computer skills (Microsoft Office Products, Email, Typing, etc.)
•     Ability to work independently and as part of a team
•     Commercial driver’ s license is a plus
•     Own and maintain a tool inventory 
•     Maintain a valid driver’ s license and be insurable under the employer’ s insurance policy

Education Requirements:

•     High School Diploma or general education degree (GED)
•     4+ years’ experience with truck chassis components (Required)
•     Experience with all major engines to include: Cummins, Cat, and Detroit Diesel (Preferred)
