Tower Technicians are responsible for building, upgrading and/or reinforcing wireless tower structures (monopoles, self-support, guyed towers, water towers, rooftops, light poles, in-building systems). Tower Technicians climb up the face of wireless towers to remove, install, test, maintain and repair a variety of equipment – from antennas to light bulbs. Tower Technicians also build shelters and radio frequency shields for electronic equipment, lay coaxial and fiber optic cables and sometimes they set supports and stack construction pieces to build the tower itself. Tower Technicians learn this trade by doing, entry-level come in as “ Green Hands” or #4’ s and work their way up e.g. 4, 3, Lead, Foreman. Previous construction experience is helpful; however, not required.
Those with experience in the wireless construction industry will be evaluated based on experience.
-To adhere to all safety policies and procedures whenever performing work for the company
-Work in a crew of 4, installing or removing/replacing antennas, ensuring connectivity, replacing lighting, constructing new structures.
-Learning and perfecting the fundamentals of proper rigging by getting things safely up the tower with the use of rope systems.
-Travel the Upper Midwest (IA, MN, NE, ND, SD & WI) typically Monday – Friday performing various site work
-To achieve the above, solid Tower Technicians will be self-starters who can listen, take direction, retain information and increase proficiency with various tasks related to wireless construction. Various skills will be acquired working for different carriers (Verizon, AT&T, T-Mobile etc.) and being able to become proficient while performing all work safely is the expectation. Wage progression is based on proficiency of skills performed, not time and grade, therefore, the more that is learned to do well the higher the earning potential.
QUALIFICATION & EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
-Valid Driver’ s License with a Driving Record acceptable to our Insurance Carrier
-Ability to pass pre & post-employment substance tests
-Ability to travel out of state/out of metro for up to a week at a time- Ability to work at heights in all-weather climates
-Previous construction experience, basic knowledge of hand tools
-Electrical knowledge or Mechanical Aptitude
-MS Office Proficient
-Previous wireless construction experience, desired
Compensation and Benefits:
Highly competitive pay(High teens-mid 20' s/hr DOE) plus $125/night per diem & OT!
