Our client is a multinational technology, engineering and manufacturing company that supplies chemical process equipment and services to the detergent and power generation industry. The company's customers vary from Fortune 500 companies to small family enterprises. Much of the equipment and technology of the company involves generating sulfur trioxide that is used either to produce surfactants for the detergent industry or for flue gas conditioning at power generation plants. Other environmental equipment products are ammonia conditioning equipment, ammonia systems for NOx removal utilizing anhydrous ammonia and aqueous ammonia. It is a small company with a tight knit work environment and room for growth.
POSITION DESCRIPTION
General Summary: The Chemical Pilot Plant Operator/Technician is responsible for the set-up, operation, and maintenance of the pilot plant. This position also receives, ships and tracks the Pilot Plant’s chemical inventory as well as other duties as assigned by the Engineering Manager. ***Acquisition of a Boiler Operator’s license within 6 months of being hired is a requirement.
Essential Job Functions:
1.) Responsible for the set-up, preparation, and clean-up of the pilot plant for experimental test runs.
2.) Responsible for the assembly and fabrication of equipment.
3.) Responsible for the maintenance of pilot plant equipment and spare parts inventory. This includes but is not limited to mechanical maintenance and repair.
4.) Responsible for researching and ordering repair parts for equipment including procuring the most cost effective means of repair and closely interacting with various vendors.
5.) Responsible for trouble shooting and repairing pilot plant equipment.
6.) Responsible for operation of boiler and pilot plant utility systems.
7.) Responsible for the operation of pilot plant process systems.
8.) Responsible for the operation of a forklift.
9.) Responsible for handling of dangerous and hazardous chemicals.
10.) Responsible for monitoring and assisting management of the inventory of chemicals entering and exiting the plant
11.) Responsible for preparing shipments of chemicals to customers.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
1.) Proficiency in all mechanical maintenance and repair operations as outlined above.
2.) Must have high level of mechanical aptitude.
3.) Proficiency in reading, understanding and interpretation of complex blueprints, specifications, and drawings.
4.) Must have basic communication skills in writing and speaking the English language.
5.) Must have excellent organizational and prioritization skills.
6.) Must have the ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
This is a first shift (5:50 AM-2:20 PM) Monday-Friday position with some OT available.
