Position Description:
The Field/Shop Technician performs service and repairs on construction equipment such as, and not limited to, excavators, skid steer loaders, compact track loaders, telehandlers, and wheel loaders on-site and/or at customers site to ensure equipment continues to run according to manufacturers specifications.
Responsibilities:
Ability to effectively communicate with customers both in-house and in the field; and build strong professional relationships.
Diagnose and repair gas engines, diesel engines, electric motors, transmissions, drive axles, differentials, hydraulic systems, brake systems, steering systems, and electrical systems.
Per manufacturers safety guidelines, properly block, chock, and chain equipment, and disassemble equipment as needed to facilitate major component removal and repair.
Record maintenance and repair work performed by completing the necessary paperwork in a timely manner.
Complete basic and advanced technical training as assigned. Maintain parts and supplies needed for job completion.
Maintain company vehicle cleanliness and ensure the vehicle is in safe operating condition. Practice safe work habits, maintain a culture of safety & participate in all safety meetings.
Qualifications
Mechanical, military or trade school certificate preferred
Three to five years experience in heavy equipment repair or related industry
Excellent mechanical aptitude, technical knowledge, and problem-solving skills
Ability to read precision instruments such as micrometers, dial indicators, bore gauges, etc.
Welding and/or fabrication skills and/or experience preferred
Valid drivers license with an excellent driving record (as shown on the current DMV report) required. Good verbal and written communication skills. Excellent customer service attitude and aptitude.
Physical Requirements
Must be physically able to repetitively stoop, bend, push, pull, squat, climb, and kneel on a regular basis.
Must be able to physically operate power machinery, use hand tools, use air compressor tools, band saw, and department grinder, steam cleaner and parts washer machines. Must be able to physically lift 75 pounds unaided.
